Alibi is a 40 ft center cockpit masthead sloop. She has a spacious saloon, compact galley and sleeping accommodation in the forepeak (front) and aft cabins. She has a separate heads (toilet) section and a sugarscoop stern for easy boarding from the tender and swimming. She was designed by Angelos Lavranos, built in South Africa in 1986 and commissioned in 1988. Her first owner sailed her extensively between Cape Town, Madagascar and the Caribbean; she competed in at least two Cape to Rio races (South Africa to Rio de Janeiro).
